大會堂: 名人話當年座談會

大會堂50周年, 慶典不絕, 上星期四晚參觀低座1樓的「金禧舞台」展覽, 有關於在大堂不同表演項目的歷史, 有電影節、有音樂演奏、有粵劇、有戲劇(小妹一直想看的「蝴蝶夫人」, 原來在1977年上映過...)。

當中令我印象難忘的, 是一間看錄像的小房間中, 一張張不同款式的椅子, 整齊的排列上, 讓訪客好好坐著看訪問。當我正奇怪何以大會堂有這麼多款式不同, 而每張都限量陳列的椅子時, 發現每張椅子上都有一張小白牌, 上面印有一齣話劇的名字。這種讓訪客親身使用舞台劇道具的體驗, 彷彿讓你成為舞台的一部份, 體會更深。

金禧舞台展覽於4月9日完結, 大家趁復活節假期好好把握機會了。 另外, 大會堂亦正為50周年慶典舉行座談會, 4月7日及8日都分別有一場, 大家可以順道一遊, 豐富行程。

皇仁校慶郵票發行 賀創校150年

昨日郵局人頭湧湧, 原來是「皇仁書院150周年校慶」特別郵票的發行日。 

皇仁書院於1862年創立，是香港政府開辦的第一所官立中學。畢業生的「卡士」亦十分有睇頭, 當中包括國父孫中山、霍英東、何鴻燊、何東、利希慎、沈袓堯、沈旭輝、黎民偉、徐國才、黃仁龍 ("皇仁"出了條"黃仁龍")...每位都獨當一面。

於150年的歷史中, 曾多返搬遷、易名, 亦與多間歷史名校有著千絲萬縷的關係。1862年以中央書院之名成立於歌賦街; 直至1884年遷至荷李活道 (即前已婚警察宿舍現址), 易命為"Victoria College"; 於1894年再易命為"Queen's College", 名稱沿用至今; 直至1941年, 二戰戰火蔓延到香港, 皇仁書院校舍被炸至粉碎; 戰事期間, 學校停課, 直至1947年, 學校重開, 與金文泰中學共用堅尼地道校舍; 1950年, 皇仁書院於銅鑼灣現址成立校舍, 並由當時的葛量洪港督主持開幕儀式。

雖然現時的校舍只有60多年歷史, 校舍內的童軍室亦被評定為2級歷史建築。有興趣參觀的, 可於4月20-21日皇仁書院開放日入內參觀。

而5月2日於皇仁書院亦有一個關於「中央書院及辛亥革命」的講座, 不過暫未有詳細資料, 大家可到皇仁書院了解。

講座: 「活化工程：古蹟和建築之間的關係」

緊隨亞洲協會香港中心的啟幕, 今天將一連舉辦三個論壇公開予公眾參與。其中11:30am舉行的「活化工程：古蹟和建築之間的關係」將邀得香港中心新會址的建築師及設計師 Tod Williams & Billie Tsien, 維珍尼亞大學建築師 David Neuman, 及香港大學建築學院院長龍炳頤教授參與討論。討論將涵括前軍火庫被活化成亞洲協會香港中心新會址的由來, 建築師對這個活化項目的願景, 及項目對香港保育事業的啟發。

A shared culture and heritage are considered essential in connecting a society as disparate as Hong Kong. There is growing recognition of the need to protect and conserve built heritage in the city. One such example is the new home of the Asia Society Hong Kong Center at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Former Explosives Magazine in Admiralty. This discussion will explore how the project came into being, the vision of the architects, and the architectural conservation lessons that Hong Kong and the region can learn from the project.
